Shama’s design work is site and client specific she tries to tie in the requirements with aesthetics of the clients psyche using various visual and tactile spatial elements.

Shama’s art works are personal and emerge from a sense of memory, space, passage of time, emotion and connection through elements of thresholds and stairways with patterns woven through them.  She uses embroidery and fabric work as a medium and the ins and out of the needle and thread bring about creative energy from its tactile movements and weaving in perceived memories of places explored, shared conversations and the unspoken emotions she carries within.

 Art and Design are both ways of self discovery and self regulation and through her work; she seeks to understand herself while creating moments of resonance with those who encounter it.

Shama is a Mumbai based Artist and Designer with an eclectic portfolio. Over the years she has designed and created spaces for exhibitions, entertainment, film and theater, retail and residences.  She has also worked on spatial design and visualization projects for animation, visual art and installations London and Mumbai. She has graduated from Faculty of Design, CEPT, Ahmedabad in Interior Design and MA in Scenography from Central Saint Martins, UAL London.
